To go along with the car you wish you never sold thread. I'm sure a good majority of us have waded up a few. Which one do you kick yourself for the most?
Mine, two.
My first car, a 79 Ford Fairmont Wagon with a built 302. It was a drag demon and the ultimate sleeper. No one expected it to be fast until they smelled burning oil from the tailpipe as I passed. I used to get everyone laughing. We would pull to the line on the old back road we raced on. Other lane, the guy would take his air cleaner off, rev the throttle and act like he knew what was going on. Me, I'd throw two quarts of oil in it and hope for the best ( it burned a LOT of oil). I was reallllly hard on 302's in my youth:). I ended up nailing a bridge outside of town and dang near split the car in two. Little snow on the road on a April morning and I lost it and made the mistake of grabbing brake instead of gassing it. County cop was so fun, he was writing tickets instead of calling a meat wagon so I made sure to bleed all over his nice interior. I wish I could find another Fairmont Wagon to build again.
My second. a 79' Old Cutlass that I had painted Smurf blue with a white top. Hence the name it received, Smurf Mobile. I got t-boned going to school one day. We managed to get it back alive and on the road but it dog-tracked something fierce. I really miss that car. So many good high school memories of beer, girls, beer, parties, cruising and oh ya, beer.
Maybe 79' is a unlucky number for me?
