View Full Version : What do you think of this Camaro

It's awesome. I love the styling cues from the '69 Camaro (my personal favorite Camaro ever). I wish they would just get the damn thing on the market though rather than waiting until they have completely missed the buzz. I mean how long has the retro look Mustang been out there already. Wasn't this car the smash hit of the Detroit Auto Show, 3 years ago and still no cars on the street.
The issue for me is going to be whether I'm really willing to give up my C6 to have one. The C6 is always going to be quicker, faster, and handle better so what's a guy to do?

Yes I agree it is a nice retro design. GM would sell the heck out of that as long as the price point is attractive.
Friggin awesome looking but appears like another GT500 porker coming our way.... I sure hope not but if it is anywhere near the GT's 3800 lbs it will need a lot more than 400hp to make it feel like you're in a sports car.

I will buy one, someday.
My wife even wants one and she isn't a car buff. She puts up with my disease of owning to many cars and tells me I'm nuts most times but when I showed her the pics I took from the Chicago Auto Show of the convertible Camaro she agreed it would be a nice car to have.

When I first saw this offering I thought to myself that GM had missed every styling que that they could but I'm getting used to it as long as I keep telling myself that they did not want a true retro 69' but rather a fresh new look with a small hint of the old 69'. I will never like the front end. Two things GM must do is to offer a package reminiscent of the Z28 using the new new LS7 427 from the C6 Z06 and deliver it to the market before Ford discontinues the Mustang, GM is so far behind the 8 ball on this project suffice to say they are way late for this pony car war. Just my 2 cents worth. I sure wish I still had the 69' big block SS/RS I had back in 70', I paid $1,800.00 for that one year old Camero in show room condition with 23,000 miles on it.

I have seen the portor types up fornt and they look fantastic. The Camaros that are currently on tour, are basically built on a Cadillac CTS platform. That is not what they will be built on. They will be built on the ZETA platorm, which is an Austrailian design (HOLDEN). This plaform will become the standard of the GM world on almost all the the RWD vehicles at some point. The ZETA platform is a rather fantastic set up, and will allow exceptional handling.
I am Pedders dealer in the USA. Pedders is a 50 plus year suspension compnay out of Austrailia, We are very well known in the new style GTO community. They are the largest suspension manufacturer in Austrailia. They make very good stuff there. Pedders already has a complete performance suspension setup for the Camaro, the new G8 Pontiac that will be coming out.
The new Camaro will be technically light years ahead of the Mustang and Chrysler products, in terms of technical suspension design. The new Pontiac G8 will be a fantastic vehcile and should be here in the states the first quarter of next year. There is suppose to be one at SEMA in the GM booth. If it shows up, it will have Pedders suspension on it.
