Georgia based custom muscle car shop Year One is honoring the 30th anniversary of the locally filmed "Smokey & the Bandit" by building 50 updated versions for the classy 1977 Trans Am from the film. The first one was recently presented to Burt Reynolds himself.

The gift was delivered to Mr. Reynolds in Los Angeles, a moment captured on film by cable network DIY for its show "Celebrity Rides", which airs tonight at 10:00 EST.

More than 1,000 man-hours of work is required to piece together vintage Trans Am parts with different paint schemes, wheels and interiors that look basically like the original.

Bert still owns a couple of original "Bandit" Trans Am's from the film, but this one has updated technology.

These will be available from Year One with a price range from $130,000 for a basic version to $205,000 for a totally tricked out edition. You can check it out at www.yearone.com. This post is not an endorsement nor an advertisement, but solely for the purpose of news.

I wonder if Sally will purchase one???

I realize Year One is doing a lot of work on these, but the price sees out of line with the market to me. In the long run I would think you will be much better off financially in the long run buying a "real" one.
