My 97 Chevy Astro Van starts ans stalls. It has 60 lb of fuel pressure, good spark and good oil pressure. I noticed that the security light is on and will not turn off after the car starts. The Padlock security system shuts off the fuel to the engine. How do I reset the security light of the Padlock system.

Hmm

You may have an issue with the key.

Passlock system. Look to the key, there will be a small "pellet" in it if it is the older system. If no pellet or small black spot is present on the key you have a newer Passlock system which then will need to be looked at by someone who knows they system and has a scan tool with diagnostic capabilities to find out what is the cause of the failure.

The older system, with the pellet, you can measure the resistance across the pellet with a Ohm meter. If you cannot get a reading the key is bad. If the key is ok then you could have a wiring situation or a passlock module that has failed, again, going to a profesional to have it looked at. There are some tricks to get the older system working if you have a wiring diagram and understand what to circumvent to get the passlock tricked into thinking the key is in the ignition.
